Snowmass Culinary & Arts Festival

Enjoy a weekend of delicious food, wine, spirits and fine art presented against the backdrop of spectacular high alpine scenery at the Snowmass Culinary and Arts Festival is July 22-23.  The festival brings foodies, wine & spirit connoisseurs, and art lovers  together in a premiere visual and delectable feast featuring celebrity chefs, a free juried art exhibit with more than 30 regionally and nationally recognized artists, free executive chef demonstrations, and a Palette of Pairings featuring a feast of small plates  paired  with wine, spirits or beer.

This year the festival will feature Chef Richard Sandoval, internationally recognized as the “Father of Modern Mexican Cuisine.” It also features Chef Hosea Rosenberg, Bravo TV’s Top Chef 2009 Winner; Chef Alex Seidel, Food and Wine Magazine 2010 Best New Chefs in America; Chef Frank Bonanno, Owner of Mizuna, Luca d’Italia, Osteria Marco and Bones in Denver; Chef and Public Television (PBS), Texas Cooking & Lifestyle TV series host, Christy Rost and Diane Hendericks, a food and nutrition specialist.

The weekend kicks off with a free cooking demonstration by Chef Sandoval on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., followed by a free concert by blues legend Otis Taylor. On Friday, art lovers will enjoy more than 30 juried artists who will show their wares all day throughout the Snowmass Mall.  Friday’s free demonstrations include Diane Hendericks and Kimball Executive Chef Vaughn Hobbs; along with featured chefs David Von Holton, from The Artisan; Clark Church, from Garnish; and Alan Sirull, from The Brothers’ Grille.  This is followed by a ticketed event Tequila & Tapas, at Venga Venga by Chef Sandoval and the Brothers’ Grille Kannah Creek Brewing Company Beer Dinner which includes five beers paired with five courses.

On Saturday, come and enjoy the five Celebrity Chef Cooking Workshops.  PBS Chef Christy Rost will conduct a workshop on “A Colorado Kitchen: Celebrating Farm-to-table Menus and Decorations” followed by Chef Hosea Rosenberg’s workshop on “Smoking at Home”,  Chef  Alex Seidel “Making Sheep’s Milk Ricotta – Simple & Easy” and demo by Chef Sandoval and Diane Hendericks.  Chef Frank Bonanno will do a cooking demo on “Nicoise Salad with Tuna Conserva” and Regional Chef Mark Fischer from Six89, Phat Thai and the Pullman will do a cooking demo on “Porcini and Pancetta.”

Saturday features the Palette of Pairings which includes a two hour feast of small gourmet plates prepared by local chefs paired with various wines and spirits from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The cost for Snowmass Culinary & Arts Festival is only $65 which includes all the demonstrations and the Palette of Pairings on Saturday.
