Saturday, June 20, at Viceroy Snowmass

Snowmass Village, Colo. –  The ten winning chefs of Cochon555, a ten-city, pork-centric culinary competition that wrapped up last weekend in Chicago, will head to Snowmass to vie for the title of “King or Queen of Porc” at Grand Cochon. Held on Saturday, June 20, during the Food & Wine Classic weekend, the event will take place in the Grand Ballroom at Viceroy Snowmass, from 7 to 11pm.

MEET THE COMPETITORS: THE 10 CHEFS

  • New York City, Francis Derby, The Cannibal
  • Houston, Mark Decker, Down House
  • Boston Jody Adams, Rialto/TRADE
  • Minneapolis, Thomas Boemer, Corner Table
  • Denver, Matt Vawter, Mercantile

For the Grand Cochon competition, each chef is provided with a whole heritage pig, bred for flavor on grass and grain and sourced from local and regional farms. The goal is to use as many piggy parts in three or more dishes as possible and let nothing go to waste. “The chefs bring an amazing level of energy to the event,” said Brady Lowe of Atlanta-based Taste Network and creator of Cochon555 and the Grand Cochon and Heritage Fire concepts. “Every single bite is the best bite they can produce.”

In addition to 30-plus chef-prepared dishes, attendees will also enjoy premium brews, reserve wines, artisan spirits, a butcher demo, a tartare and oyster bar, cheese tastings, and an award ceremony to announce the winner. The “King or Queen of Porc” will be chosen by an audience vote and a panel of 20 expert judges.

“Crowning the “King or Queen of Porc” at Grand Cochon in Snowmass will be a highlight of an exciting weekend for our food-loving locals and visitors, and a great addition to our Snowmassive Summer,” said Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “Our mouths are watering just thinking about it.”
