The couple responsible for the Market at Mountain Village in Telluride are involved in the remaking of the former Alpine Market at the Aspen Airport Business center. They plan to offer pre-made sandwiches, prepared salads, and brown bag lunches that very well could move the market into a good place for cheap eats in Aspen as well as earning itself a listing in Quick & Easy on EatAspen.com. They will also offer basic grocery items, a meat, fish, and deli counter, specialty items and organic products. Which is great news to anyone living in Aspen beyond the round-a-bout, especially all those Burlingamers, but how will the organic offerings effect Mountain Naturals right next door is anyone’s guess. One word of advice to the new AABC market owners is to keep prices low, the reason I would avoid shopping at the old Alpine Market even though a more convenient location than in town was the high price of basic items. Expect this new Aspen market to open in 6 months, so perhaps in the Fall of 2009.
