Aspen’s July 4th Weekend 2015

flag-girlsFourth of July in Aspen is a full on party with multiple highlights throughout the day from the Independence Day Parade to the the Patriotic Concert at the Music tent with plenty of Barbecues and picnics spots along the way.  We’ve gotten together a list of some events worth considering.

The weekend holiday weekend is in full swing for some on Thursday night, July 2 when the Snowmass free concerts start at 6:30pm with High & Mighty Brass Band then at 8pm with Lee Fields & The Expressions.  Bring your favorite blanket or lawn chair and pack the picnic basket with dinner and treats of the moment.  Although it’s no longer byob at the concerts, Wine, beer and cocktails are sold at the event for a reasonable price.

The festivities start on Saturday July 4th with the parade through downtown Aspen beginning at 11am.  View parade info here.

The Jerome hosts a 4th of July BBQ in the heart of the action on their terrace. Featuring live music by Bo Hale beginning at 11am.

Picnic with the locals for a good cause anytime from 12-3 p.m. at the AVSC 4th of July Picnic, Koch Park $10 for Adults, $5 for Children under 10.

The free concert at the music tent Benedict Music Tent kicks of at 4 p.m. – The Aspen Music Festival and School plays the patriotic standards you’ve come to expect on the fourth of July.

Fireworks light up Aspen Mountain at 9:20 pm.

Traffic in Aspen on July 4th is a mess, so avoid driving to enjoy the day the fullest.  Take the bus, ride the bike or walk to your destinations.
