Frozen Waves

shingles-greybeach-grassbeach-club-chairsbeach-blanket-wineNantucker Cisco beer in the Aspen Snow“Frozen waves” was the reference we heard on the chairlift at Highlands this morning from a boyhood surfer, when he contemplated the commonality of snowboarding in the fresh powder snow with that of catching a wave.  There are certain things, that although worlds apart, are similar to one another.  Take for instance this mountain town of Aspen and the island of Nantucket.  Two completely different environments that share similar aspects and attract similar personalities.  These two places also have a connection through the seasonal migration of people from one to the other, Nantucket Summers and Aspen Winters.

So it’s ironic that later in the day I find myself in Aspen with something I’ve known only up to this point to be exclusively Nantucket.  A bottle of Whales Tail Pale Ale, a beer born and brewed of Nantucket, and for me only found “on island”.  Cisco Brewers have expanded their distribution this winter to select Colorado Mountain destinations which will be a welcome treat to those in the know.  Aspen is of course one of those places, so keep your eyes open for Whales Tail Pale Ale & Grey Lady Wheat among other Cisco Beers and you too can have a taste of Nantucket here in the mountains.
