Favorite Brews & Eats at Mammoth Fest 2015

Snowmass Mammoth Fest 2015!

June 12-14

Portents of thunderstorms did not dampen the mood at Aspen’s annual Mammoth Fest. With over 25 breweries showcasing 70 beers, festival goers sampled brews while listening to the musical talents of nationally touring bluegrass bands.

Local favorite Aspen Brewing Company served up their Independence Pass Ale and This Season’s Blonde to a long line of guests. Avery Brewing from Boulder served Maharaja, their Imperial IPA. With a tangy blend of hops and malted barley and an alcohol content of 10-12%, our group judged Maharaja to be their favorite. A nice surprise from the Western Slope, Big B’s Delicious Orchards brought out their hard cider. With a tart and not-too-sweet finish, the ciders were a crisp and refreshing departure from beer.

From Havana Cabana to Ghandi’s Indian Cuisine, a variety of food tents ensured guests were well fed. Our top food pick of the day was the Fire-roasted corn tacos from Marble’s Slow Groovin’ BBQ. The crispy corn topped with fresh cool slaw and their house-made 5 pepper hot sauce proved to be the perfect food pairing with the bubbling brews.

A signal of the valley’s transition into summer, the Mammoth Fest continues to be one of Aspen’s top events, loved by locals and visitors alike. For more information, see www.snowmassmammothfest.com
